History

I am fortunate to have had opportunities to learn wherever and whenever I could. Let's go down my memory lane through some formative creative/tech milestones. Each of these has influenced me to be who I am today.

- Built my first DIY computer, a 486SX 33mhz and got on the internet for the first time. The internet was mostly email and IRC chat back then with no solid web browser yet. This was the start of a bold new world.

- Was introduced to film photography and darkroom developing. The red light and smells were a unique and memorable tactile experience. There will always be something nice about something tactile vs the digital experience and I kind of miss that but the world move on and we have to adapt with it.

- Started using Adobe Photoshop at version 3. Making animated GIFs the manual way was fun to make "memes" before that word became a cultural lexicon.

- Messed around with beta version of MP3 and started my optimization adventure in the “limited” bandwidth and storage era. While moving from GIFs to JPEGs was a big thing, CDs to WAV/MP3s was even bigger as I started to get more into music. This was a foreshadowing that convenience and "shrinking" size technologies were going to be a big hit.

- Got my first cell phone. It was 2G.

- Started working at an advertising and branding company creating websites and setup computers from scratch for the Quality Assurance room for said websites. This was a great introduction to meeting professionals in the tech and creative fields. My problem solving skills really worked both sides of my brain.

- Got my first digital camera, a Nikon Coolpix 950. Although It felt more more like a cool toy back then just like the first MP3 players, it was still crucial in being able to experiment and gain results quick.

- Started freelancing as a web developer and edited various photo and video media. Worked on projects for the Guggenheim Museum and various magazine publications such as SELF, GQ, Golf Digest, Popular Science, Bon Appétit, Field and Stream.

- Started doing electronic modifications of audio gear while began training my ear as a budding audiophile. I was a music lover.

- Got my first professional DSLR, a Canon 10D.

- Taught the first blogger at Glamour Magazine how to use such a system.

- Started learning how to cook and lead a healthier lifestyle. It's harder to take care of others if you are not in your prime form.

- Learned photographic lighting.

- Got my first digital full frame camera, a Canon 5D Mark II, which started my more serious video adventure.

- Started filming weddings.

- Started studio photography with emphasis on products and people.

- Started shooting NY Fashion Week events.

- Learned field audio recording and cinematic lighting.

- Started shooting narrative films.

- Filmed my first full length feature movie.

- Branching out to film documentaries. Although working on creating "worlds" was interesting, real life has caught my attention more in the past few years.

- Learned generative AI and the use of AI assisting tools in other forms.

- Giving more attention to music videos. Going back to my music appreciation roots.
